He is  one of the first 15 official members of the Egyptian Young Academy of Science (Academy of Scientific Research and Technology). He finished his M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees from the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Montreal “Pharmaceutical Nanotechnology”. Research interests include the rational design of nanomedicine for various biomedical applications, for which he has received several national and international prestigious awards. He is a team member of the USA National Heart Lung and Blood Institute-supported Program of Excellence in Nanotechnology and the peer-reviewer of several international journals, and he was also the Guest Editor of a Special Issue on Nanomedicines for the Journal of Current Drug Delivery.

Dr. Elsabahy has an h index of 16 with more than 1000 citations, 30 peer-reviewed articles  (in journals of very high impact factor up to 30.4, some in the Journals of the Nature Publishing Group and published in collaboration with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, some reported as among the top 20 articles (number 1) published on the same topic since February 2012), 4 book chapters in the most well-known publishers, US patent, participation in 22 conferences, invited lectures at Texas A&M University (Texas, USA), Washington University Medical School (Missouri, USA), the American University in Cairo, National Research Center in Cairo, Misr University for Science and Technology, Al-Ahram Newspaper and Assiut University (Faculty of Pharmacy, Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Science and Faculty of Nursing).
