Assiut International Center of Nanomedicine (AICN) was established in 26-9-2012 at Assiut University to develop nanoproducts that can improve the treatment of diseases prevalent in Egypt, especially liver diseases, and viable treatment for many other diseases. The center is located next to the largest hospitals of liver and heart in Upper Egypt, and this location will provide an ideal environment to focus on the development of such therapies.

 

Clinically-viable products are being developed at the center to improve the treatment of several diseases, and to improve the scientific and economic environment in Egypt and to provide collaboration opportunities in Egypt and internationally.  The center is funded by several governmental and private sectors. Production of new and effective therapies at affordable prices could reduce the burden on patients and caregivers, and significantly improve the economy by exporting these medications to other countries in Africa and Middle East.
